A beautiful poem sent to me by listener Padraic Slater, entitled Radio Heathcliff (Channelling Kate).

“Heathcliff, it’s me, Cathy, I’ve come home
I’m so cold, let me in in-a-your-window
Heathcliff, it’s me, Cathy, I’ve come home
I’m so cold, let me in in-a-your-window”

“Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
You know it’s me, Cathy”

– from ‘Wuthering Heights’ by Kate Bush, released as her debut single in 1978

Radio Heathcliff
(Channelling Kate)

Angela pitching to the radio station
Talks up podcasts and sound bites
Of Kate Bush on an odyssey
A trek to Wuthering Heights

Cathy’s come, a soul possessed
“Let me in!” she cries aloud
Wants her message to be heard
Above the madding crowd

“A wild, wicked slip she was…
…had the bonniest eye and sweetest smile”
Now she stalks Coop Radio
With Kate-like guile

Cathy’s come, blithe spirit she
Come down from the moors
Come to cast ethereal spells
On those she lures

Kate’s running up that hill
Cathy’s dancing down that vale
Morphing right before our ears
Angela chants her haunted tale

“Oh it gets dark, it gets lonely
On the other side from you”

She opines in such breathy tones
She lays it on the line
She longs for that connection where
We all become Divine

Where we can dance that sacred dance
That holy dialect
Where ego has no shadow
Where hearts come to connect

Where soulmindbody all doth sing
As in Elysium above
Where yin and yang together bring
Love as music, music love

Will we listen, will we care?
Will we ever know
Her existential musings
On Coop Radio?

Or are we all just snow men
So cold … so aloof
Leave her hanging on the ledge
Pining so for proof

Angela … Cathy … Kate … and kin
Which wave will the Muses ride?
Will Radio Heathcliff soon tune in
To “sticky love inside”?
